At BP, safety and the effective management of operational risks are absolute priorities. That’s the case on every rig, plant and office globally. BP’s Safety and Operational Risk (S&OR) function was established in 2011 to drive safe, reliable and compliant operations across BP. S&OR works with BP’s operations to set safety requirements and provide assurance that requirements to manage operating risks and improve operating quality are met. S&OR supports operating businesses by providing deep technical expertise and building capability.
Join this accelerated development programme and we’ll give you the training, experience and exposure to become a respected future leader of our S&OR function, specializing in engineering or heath, safety and environment. We look for talented postgraduates who will relish the opportunity to take on an influential, high-profile role, spearheading the implementation of one of our core values and shaping the future direction of our business.
The programme will be tailored to your specific needs and aspirations, but it will definitely involve two 18-24 month rotations, one of which will be international. These could be in Upstream, Downstream or one of our other functions – but wherever you work, you’ll gain a unique insight into what safety really means to us.
What’s more, since safety and operational risk take on such importance at BP, you’ll have constant access to our senior leaders and a robust support network behind you. This will include mentors to guide you and the support of the global FLP team, as well as regular networking events and conferences.
The S&OR programme will open up an incredible breadth of opportunities. To be considered for it, you must be able to combine an MBA, PhD, MA or MSc with at least three years’ professional experience in a quality environment.
We are particularly keen to talk to individuals from engineering or science backgrounds who have acquired some experience in operations risk management, process safety or other HSE disciplines and want to develop their careers in these areas.
We want people with a passionate interest in safety to live and breathe our values. Those who can quickly acquire deep technical knowledge and have the determination and commitment to help us build a safer, stronger BP in the years ahead.
