Faults are surfaces of discontinuity in a geological model. These surfaces (generally triangulated surfaces) can be built either deterministically by fitting a discrete surface to observation data or stochastically when dealing with uncertainties. The aim of the internship is to implement an optimization method ensuring tha stochastically generated fault surfaces respect observations done along the wellbore (presence or absence of faults)
- 3rd year of engineering school, M2 or PhD
- Object oriented programming (C++ preferred, JAVA) Computational geometry, some knoledge of inverse problems or optimization problems are welcome.
- Precision, labour organisation, self-sufficiency
