Job description

Aker Solutions, with North America locations in Houston, Mobile, Calgary and St. Johns, is looking for talented individuals who can strengthen our team and support our ambitious growth plans within the oil and gas market.

Responsibilities and tasks

1. Deliver projects to agreed timescale, budget and to specification.
2. Implementation and testing of software.
3. Generation of test procedures
4. Support of software at locations offsite, possibly offshore platform visits.
5. Identifying processes and patterns within work areas and recommending procedures to improve standardization and consistency of approach to supervisor.
6. Monitoring trends and new products in the marketplace which could benefit the company and recommending same to supervisor

Qualifications & personal attributes

1. Qualified to degree level or equivalent in computer science or electrical or electronics and tellecommunications engineering discipline and 3-5 years experience
2. Knowledge of real-time control systems.
3. Knowledge of PLC/SCADA control systems.
4.Knowledge of Networking (TCP/ IP), Creating & Troubleshooting Routers and Switches ( VLANS and Routing Tables) and understanding of communication (Modbus, CAN bus,) protocols. {CCNA or Equivalent Certification preferred.}
5. Knowledge of programming languages, preferably at least one of: C, C++, C#, scripting languages(xml, vbscript, powershell) knowledge helpful too.
6. Knowledge of real-time Operating Systems.
7. Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written.
8. Good team player.
9. Professional client relationship.
