Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 4 to 8 years of related petrochemical experience preferably from a background in working for consultancy organizations in the EPC of the Oil and Gas Industry. Operate as part of a team in carrying out detailed engineering work assuming responsibility for conceptual and detailed design (Concept, Front End or Basic, Material, Stress Analysis, Layout Engineering, Coordination of 3D modeling) and provide necessary technical information for procurement in compliance with tender specifications/data sheets and within budgeted man-hour and project schedules. Allocate appropriate manpower for the preparation of proposals and the performance of detailed engineering on projects.
Review the ITB (Invitation to Bid) documents submitted in the proposals stage, issue inquiry requisitions, review techno-commercial vendor offers, prepare equipment, material and manhour estimates. Review contract requirements for project execution, organize the preparation of the Technical Document Register (TDR), identify requirements and scope of work; review specifications Process Data Sheets (PDS), Piping Material Specifications (PMS), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), Plot plans, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Review Philosophies, Area Classification Drawings, Fire and Gas Detector
Layout Drawings and other relevant documents. Establish contract review criteria, identify and resolve discrepancies and divergences from original proposal through the instigation of technical queries to projects/client. Identify critical equipment parameters and establish engineering deliverables i.e. plant layout,stress analysis, isometrics, bill of materials, capacity, pressure requirements and other parameters. Prepare conceptual layouts and designs; obtain inputs from other engineering disciplines through the “want list” document, i.e. mechanical data sheets, foundation sizing, equipment layout, instrument specifications and other necessary data.
Prepare pipe wall thickness calculations, reinforcement pad (RP) calculations and piping systems analysis for pumps,turbines compressors and other piping arrangements. Prepare stress analysis reports through the use of CAESAR II software and Modeling Assistance in PDS, incorporating contract specifications and international codes, update isometric sheets as required.
Identify stress factors and layout feasibility, resolve design irregularities. Provide stress and piping loads to civil engineering group, coordinate on technical issues as required. Prepare the evaluation of plot plans, engineering drawings and technical documents issued for Internal Design Checks (IDC’s) and the integration of other engineering discipline data inputs. Prepare technical document requirements for equipment specifications.
