Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Geologist and Geophysicist located in Bangkok, Thailand.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Development Earth Scientist (Geologist and/or Geophysicist) matures development and infill drilling programs. The position requires experience on drilling and well planning. The successful candidate will be a working member of a multi-disciplinary team with the objective of developing new development projects and reservoir management. The candidate must be familiar with development geology/geophysical work processes. Successful candidates will develop drilling programs and move projects through all phases from prospect identification to well planning and to drilling execution workflow.
Important skillsets for geologists include subsurface structural mapping, petrophysics, stratigraphic correlation, sand-mapping, reservoir quality assessment, reserves estimation, development planning, pore pressure and drilling/logging operations. Good knowledge base in well design is helpful.
Important skillsets for geophysicists include subsurface mapping from seismic volumes, hydrocarbon estimation, well planning, velocity modeling and complete understanding of complex fault networks in the Gulf of Thailand basin. Other important skillsets include integration of rock physics/petrophysics with seismic attributes. Good knowledge base in well planning is desirable.
Strong teamwork, mentoring and communication skills are required to ensure successful cross-functional alignment. Development Earth Scientist works closely with Petroleum Engineers, Drilling and Business Planning in developing and executing the work programs.
Provide technical input and support to the generation of strategic and business plans including asset development plans.
Provide support for developing Reserves/Resource estimates.
Assist in technical discussions with partners and DMF. Ensure partners and DMF technical requirements are met.
Provide mentoring and/or training of less experienced staff.
Strong English communication skills (concept articulation, listening, presentation, and report writing) are important. Given the high level of activity, clear communication is critical to ensure the organization stays aligned. Frequent requirement is to present and defend teamwork results to company peer review and partners.

- Bachelor’s degree in Science. Master’s Degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in Petroleum Geology or Geophysics.
- Strong Geology or Geophysics background, with a primary focus on Asset Development and Reservoir Management.
- Experience in planning and executing well drilling programs.
- Strong all-round background in all aspects of Earth Science and related functions such as seismic interpretation, well logging and formation evaluation etc.
- Experience in computer-based mapping tools.
- The candidate must be willing to adapt to the high pace of drilling activities.
