Position Overview
  • Production Operator across all of the production and utilities systems (Oil, Gas, Water Injection, Utilities and Control Room)
  • Operate process equipment and utility systems in accordance with operating procedures to maximise production
  • Comply fully with safe working practices, procedures, policies
Job Duties & Responsibilities

HSE&A

Conducts all activities in a safe and effective manner and raises safety and environmental issues immediately and in line with HSE&A policy and the Life Saving Rules.

  • Ensures compliance in all areas of responsibility
    • Ensuring a worksite is ready for work to commence prior to a permit being issued
    • Monitoring all work carried out by other parties under a permit within their sphere of responsibility
    • Carry out Permit Compliance worksite checks
    • Engage in and contribute to HAZANs, Tool Box Talks
  • Participate in the investigation and reporting of accidents & incidents
  • Carry out audits/area inspections in production areas as drawn up in annual schedule
  • Ensure safe preparation of isolation of plant
  • NSSoW :-
  • Strive to reduce leaks, seeps, environmental spills and permit breaches on the installation
  • Ensure a timely Safety Critical SAP Notification is raised for all leaks/seeps identified
  • Emergency Response – carry out emergency duties as identified in Emergency Response Plan

Technical/Functional

Carry out production operations activities.  These include the operation of, and require knowledge in, the following:

  • Hydrocarbon process plant & equipment
  • Utilities & Power generation plant & equipment
  • Emergency Response/firefighting equipment
  • Integrated Control & Safety Systems (ICSS)

Production Technician Outside

  • Carrying out watch keeping duties to ensure integrity and stability of operation
  • Preparing and isolating equipment for maintenance activities and reinstatement on completion
  • Carrying out first line maintenance activities on the process plant and utility systems
  • Ensuring comprehensive records and logs are maintained and effective handovers are carried out at shift and crew change
  • Participating in Root Cause Analysis activities to improve process reliability
  • Assisting with the resolution of operational problems, including providing input into plant trip/upset reports, participation in and close-out of accident/incident investigations and equipment failure root cause analysis
  • Exercise PACE (Pro-Active Care of Equipment) and CLAIR (Clean, Lubricate, Adjust, Inspect and Repair) during day to day activities

Control Room Operator

  • Responding to process trips and unplanned equipment stoppages in a timely manne
  • The application and removal of inhibits and overrides in compliance with the relevant procedures
  • Reviewing and discussing all completed and ongoing tasks and permits during shift handovers
  • Delivering shift/daily targets and compliance with WIP
  • Participating in Root Cause Analysis activities to improve process reliability
  • Reporting of production performance, including:-
    • daily production figures and wells status in the Nexen UK production reporting system
    • production losses via the Nexen Choke Model Loss System
    • Production Short Interval Control (PSIC) identifying and providing information on reasons for short term losses, taking immediate action as required for resolving immediate loss events
    • compile reports for 3rd parties if required
  • Assisting with the resolution of operational problems, including providing input into plant trip/upset reports, participation in and close-out of accident/incident investigations and equipment failure root cause analysis
  • Being aware of current overrides/inhibits and NOPRAS
Education & Experience
  • Appropriate industry qualifications
  • OPITO Process Operations:  Hydrocarbons N/SVQ Level 3 Standard or equivalent
  • Assessed competent in “Control Room Operator Controlling Emergencies” OPITO standard
  • Control of Work
  • Appropriate experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Appropriate background in process operations and application of safety and control systems
  • Must have Offshore Control Room experience
  • Competent in offshore Oil, Gas, Water Injection, Utilities and Control Room Operations
  • Appropriate experience with DCS control system or similar PC based system
  • Process fault finding and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Computer literacy on Windows based applications
  • Understanding of;
    • SAP
    • NSSoW
    • CCRO
    • Document control system
    • ActionBase
