Job Description:

The * Sr. F&PA Analyst- Commercial Marine* position is responsible for financial analysis and reporting of marine earnings and performance, and requires constant interaction with trade floor individuals in order to understand the drivers behind the financials. This position serves as liaison between operations and accounting to ensure data integrity in the SAP/IMOS interface (marine operating system). Additionally, this role provides business analysis for earnings package which facilitates effective future business decisions.

Responsibilities may include :

  • Analyzing operations data in IMOS to provide market analysis and financial analysis for monthly marine earnings. Variance analysis versus budget for financials and report on indicators for future month operations.
  • Calculating and creating comprehensive fleet P&L for heavy product barges by vessels and voyages. Explains financials to charterers and voyage coordinators.
  • Reporting market indicators from the freight market and the products market to explain the business drivers behind marine’s financials.
  • Overseeing and validating process of allocating transportation charges to the appropriate BU in IMOS and SAP. Validating total costs have passed through to BU in the appropriate cost center.
  • Acting as interface between operations and accounting to ensure voyages are completed in IMOS appropriately.
  • Coordinating monthly accrual process for all in-transit voyages or corrections to voyages which ensures accurate cost reporting.
  • Calculating of key operating metrics that are presented to management on a monthly basis. Metrics provided to operations personnel to gauge performance against group goals.
  • Interfacing with commercial F&PA staff to explain impact of marine activity on commercial transactions.


Basic/Required :

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
  • 2 or more years of Accounting/ Finance related experience

    Preferred :

  • 15+ hours of college level Accounting
  • Master’s Degree
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • 3 or more years of downstream/commercial finance experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel
  • SAP, Hyperion, and/or Essbase systems experience
