Job description:

  • Operational support to project (within own discipline and competency)
  • Represent Operations within the Project organisation in South Korea (if required)
  • Complete handover and commissioning of process and utility systems in South Korea as Company’s discipline representative (If required)
  • Provide Operational input and experience to the Project team
  • Participate in construction activities
  • Participate in HAZOP/HAZID/RFSU (Ready for Start-up)
  • Continuous focus on identifying and handling Risks concerning operation
  • Ensure that all operational requirements are followed and understood by all parties (Statoil and contractors)
  • Ensure preservation process is performed correctly
  • Ensure essential maintenance is carried out during post commissioning and handover of plant and equipment
  • Support all activities described in the Pre-Operations plan for example:
  • Competence and Training of Operations personnel
  • Help establish Operational Systems, Processes and Procedures for Production and Utility systems (System and Operating documents)
  • Perform verifications of start-up procedures
  • Help develop Integrated Operations systems
  • Offshore Duties and Responsibilities during Operations phase:
  • The Process Technician reports to the Production Supervisor. This position can rotate between being utilised as an outside Technician and within the Central Control Room. There is also the potential for rotation onshore (slow rotation).
  • The responsibilities for this position are:
  • Leadership and Emergency Response Duties
  • Emergency Response – carry out emergency duties as identified in Emergency Response Plan, or as directed by the OIM
  • Assist with ensuring a safe system of work for all activities in process areas through the Safe Work system
  • Actively support Safety and Sustainability responsibilities in the Production department
  • Provide input into HAZANs, risk analysis, procedure reviews and audits as required
  • Participate in the investigation and reporting of accidents & incidents and provide corrective actions as appropriate
  • Technical Duties
  • Monitor and operation of the F&G and Safety Automation System (SAS)
  • Perform Safe Work related roles as defined in Statoil procedures
  • Production optimisation focal point
  • Operation of process equipment and utility systems in accordance with operating procedures to maximise production
  • Operation of assigned operational system and area responsibilities as defined in the Statoil
    Management system
  • High level of awareness of Environmental compliance
  • Assist and work with specialised vendors who visit the platform, ensure that all tasks are completed correctly and safely
  • Strive to reduce leaks, seeps, environmental spills and permit breaches on the installation
  • Implement the isolation/de-isolation, leak testing and safe return to service of plant
  • Conduct diagnosis and repair of process and utility system upsets
  • Raising of accurate notifications and work orders, including close out with adequate and accurate history
  • Coordinating the implementation of plant preparation for maintenance as per operational procedures
  • Carry out first line maintenance (eg. replacement of gauges, equalising DP cells, replacement of valve handles, greasing etc.)
  • Conduct assigned preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Actively support plant and equipment specific training
  • Onshore Duties and Responsibilities during Onshore period (Slow Rotation): The onshore CRO reports directly to the Onshore Production Supervisor.
    He/She is responsible for:
  • Carry out CRO duties from remote onshore location as per Statoil procedures
  • Support the Offshore Operations & Maintenance Team in terms of administration workload
  • Active involvement in preparation and planning for shutdowns and any campaign workscopes
  • Plan the Maintenance management of assigned production (business) and safety critical maintenance
  • Quality assurance of operational plans
  • Continuously attempt to improve the Asset production performance
  • Process isolation preparation
  • Work Permit preparation


  • Extensive operational experience including CRO competencies
  • An Engineering Degree, HNC/ONC (preferable but not essential)
  • CRO Controlling Emergencies certified (preferable but not essential)
