Overview:

Chevron Power and Energy Management Company (CPEM) delivers comprehensive commercial, engineering and operational support to enable the success of Chevron’s Upstream, Downstream & Midstream organizations through reliable and efficient operations. CPEM’s Energy Management organization provides leadership, technical expertise and support to Chevron base business and projects, with the goal to improve the management of energy performance (efficiency, costs…) through delivery of key elements of a central energy management practice. To achieve this, the organization utilizes CPEM Energy Management Engineers in collaboration with subject matter experts from other Chevron operating companies and base business operations to identify and develop energy management and efficiency opportunities, analyze and report energy consumption and costs, and integrate energy considerations into capital projects.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Lead or provide a supporting role in energy assessments for entire business units or facilities within Chevron
  • Participate in energy optimization reviews for new project designs
  • Identification and development of energy optimization projects within Chevron facilities
  • Monitoring, analyzing and reporting corporate energy consumption and cost performance
  • Development/deployment of energy management best practices, tools, standards and technologies
  • Leadership of Chevron’s Energy Management Community of Practice (CoP)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering (more extensive applicable industry experience may be considered in lieu of an engineering degree)
  • Minimum ten (10) years or more oil and gas production or processing facilities experience (gas processing, LNG, refineries, chemical plants, major capital projects) in either operations, engineering or another technical support role
  • Strong technical foundation in a discipline area related to energy management
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the functional objective of a facility and view it as an integrated whole rather than simply independent pieces of equipment
  • Broad experience in facility optimization and planning
  • Prior experience in overall facility reviews or energy assessments
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong networks across multiple organizations both internal and internal
  • Demonstrated focus on understanding and meeting customer business needs
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with personnel at all levels of an organization – both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to guide or direct through influence rather than positional power
  • High degree of comfort working/facilitating groups that can include business unit leaders, staff, and joint venture partners
  • Prior experience leading or actively participating in the management of organizational capability or a functional CoP
  • Demonstrated ability to grow capability beyond own business unit through influence, sharing and leading by example
  • Travel is required for this position (including international), and may be up to 40%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Process/chemical engineering discipline
  • Knowledge of energy management/efficiency systems and technologies
  • Prior experience in building a technical consulting organization
