Nexen Supports the Fight Against Bullying and Feelings of Isolation

0

At a Pink T-Shirt Day assembly in Fort Nelson, British Columbia, Nexen (a CNOOC Limited company) continued its support of Rachel’s Challenge, an organization whose mission it is to equip youth and adults with the means to fight bullying and feelings of isolation.

Rachel’s Challenge was established after the Columbine (Colorado) High School tragedy in 1999. The program also includes establishing Friends of Rachel clubs – a unique program that provides students the opportunities to partner with Rachel’s Challenge to continue the chain reaction of kindness and compassion in schools and communities.

“This is the fourth year Nexen has donated to Rachel’s Challenge,” says Kanta Reddy, Pink T-Shirt Day assembly organizer. “Their $10,000 contribution goes a long way in supporting Friends of Rachel clubs, helping School District 81 students spread their anti-bullying message and creating a permanent cultural change in the community.”

According to Nexen’s Michelle Chabot, giving back to the communities where Nexen operates has been a longstanding priority for the company. “All community contributions reflect our corporate culture, our values and support the well-being of our host communities. This donation reinforces our commitment and emphasizes our goal to be a good neighbour.”
